Clear Brackets

We use tooth-coloured, ceramic brackets for private patients who request them. The brackets themselves blend in with the teeth and can hardly be seen, but do remember that you will still see the wires that are used to align the teeth during treatment.

Aligners

Treatment using clear aligners is now very popular with many adult and child patients who would prefer not to wear conventional fixed braces. The aligners are very similar to regular clear retainers but are made to put specific forces on the teeth to straighten them. Each aligner is worn for 2-3 weeks before moving on to the next one, so the overall treatment time depends largely on how many aligners are needed for each particular case. Good patient co-operation is vital to the success of aligners treatment as they are removable. They should only be removed for cleaning and eating and should be worn for at least 22 hours a day if treatment is to be successful.

Not every patient is suitable for treatment with aligners as they work best on more mild problems. You will need to discuss this with your orthodontist at your consultation appointment.
